CAST's NIMAS Center maintains and updates the
National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS),
which guides the production of digital versions of textbooks and
related instructional materials so they can be more easily
converted to accessible formats, including Braille and
text-to-speech. Working with CAST's National Center on Accessible
Instrinctional Materials, we provide a NIMAS Conversion
Tool within Read&Write GOLD free of charge.

Nuance to provide
access from Read&Write GOLD to their Dragon NaturallySpeaking

helps those with limited mobility to speak directly into their
computer, without typing. Additionally, we use the Nuance
Scansoft Voices in our text-to-speech engine.
Widgit
Texthelp partners with Widgit Software to provide
symbols in Read&Write
GOLD's Picture Dictionary, Vocabulary Tool, and Fact Mapper. This
provides users with visual images to identify the meaning of
unknown words, thereby improving comprehension.
