In addition to the reading, writing,
research and study skills features found on the toolbar,
Read&Write GOLD has a number of other powerful features
available to help both teachers and students.

download here.)
Scanning
With one-click scanning, Read&Write GOLD can scan
printed documents, saved images, or PDF documents into
Microsoft Word, HTML, or PDF format. You can even scan a document
in using a digital camera!
After scanning a document which can contain both text and
images, the many support features of Read&Write GOLD can be
used to read aloud and access the digital file. The new document
can also be edited if it is in an editable format. This is ideal
for scanning assignments or tests for students to complete using
Read&Write GOLD. Students can read the test aloud, type their
answers, and even have their answers read aloud. This allows them
to be sure that they understand what is being asked of them and
that their answers reflect their actual knowledge.

"My favorite Read&Write
GOLD feature is the ability to scan text from a hard copy into
Microsoft Office Word. This function has opened the doors for
students who would otherwise be unable to access this curriculum
independently due to reading difficulties. The fact that a
student can scan the material using a regular scanner and then read
it in Word, using Read&Write's read feature is incredible. The
material a student can now access ranges from text books,
magazines, novels and classroom tests. Students wishing to
write their tests using both text-to-speech and Microsoft Word have
found the scanning feature
invaluable."

Teacher's Toolkit
The Teacher's Toolkit allows teachers to control which
Read&Write GOLD features can be added to or deleted from the
toolbar, configure student settings, monitor the progress of
students, collate spelling error logs, and analyze usage patterns.
Teachers can even use the "Exam" profile to restrict the
functionality of Read&Write GOLD during an exam. Administrators
can import students using comma separated files to make set up even
easier!

PDF Accessibility
Editor
With the easy-to-use PDF Accessibility Editor, you can set and
control the reading order of PDF files. Options include setting and
controlling the precise reading order (speech output) of text and
graphics, creating a custom reading flow, adding correct
pronunciation control over specific vocabulary (such as math
equations), creating and reading Alt Texts, and excluding
headers/footers from the reading order.

Testmaker
Testmaker allows you to quickly create and deliver online
interactive tests and surveys. You can reuse existing tests or
create new tests within Microsoft Word with various question
types, such as Fill in the Blanks, Multiple Choice, Checkbox,
True/False, and Short Answer or Essay. The tests can then be
delivered online for students to complete. When finished, the
students can save, print, or email the test.

Create Lexiflow
eBooks
Create Lexiflow eBooks turns PDF Files into accessible Talking
Flash eBooks. The eBooks are an exact representation of the
original content, can be viewed on any PC or Mac with Flash
installed, and can be read aloud with dual highlighting.
In addition to text-to-speech with choice of reading voice, eBook
support tools include a Dictionary, Translator, Sticky Notes,
Highlighters, Calculator, and Typewriter.

Support for MathML
Using Read&Write GOLD along with Design Science's
MathPlayer and MathType, you can create and read aloud MathML
files.
NIMAS Conversion

through Read&Write GOLD. Using NIMAS source files, accessible,
student-ready alternate-format versions of textbooks and core
materials (e.g., Digital Talking Books) can be created with the
