  • Software Developer

We make world-class software for people with disabilities and need more people to write client software, server software, and apps. Our software gets used to read things out (for blind people) and check spelling and writing (for people with dyslexia) or speak aloud (for people with limited motor skills) in education and in the workplace. We have millions of users around the world in this rewarding sector. It’s a great, small and friendly team based in Preston of about ten developers, but we’re also part of a larger global company with about 150 developers so there’s more experience and professional development there. At present we’re in the office in central Preston one or two days a week, and that probably won’t change. You will mainly be coding apps in the latest full-stack technologies (React, JavaScript) but we do a lot of Windows and Apps development so .NET is also likely to come up. We use git, CI/CD and Agile: it’s a good place for developers. If your existing experience base doesn’t quite match that, don’t worry: we find good coders can skill up fast. We don’t do anything out-there like declarative programming, though we are looking at machine learning…
