Get Online Week Kicks Off
This year, the eighth national Get Online Week takes place this week 13-19 October.
The annual campaign aims to engage thousands of people and inspire them to get online and see what the internet could do for them.
Whether you want to get a job, get healthy, get connected or get a bargain, getting online could help you do it. But there are still 12 million people in the UK who either can’t understand or who don’t have the basic online skills to make the most of the internet.
The role we have to play is to ensure that both the public and private sector are aware that barriers exist to these people and to try and address the needs of those who are offline so they receive the support they need.
Doing something new or different online needn’t be scary as help is out there in many different forms. Being online is for EVERYONE - it changes lives.
Tell us how you are taking part in Get Online Week. If you are helping others to get online, or if you are trying something new yourself, we would love to hear about it? Leave a comment in the reply section below.
