BETT 2019! Our key takeaways

While some of our texthelpers are back in the office after another successful BETT event, more hopped straight on to another plane for the next few stops on the Texthelp World Tour -  FETC, TCEA and ATIA in the US.

But we want to take this opportunity to reflect on our four days at the ExCel.

With so much to see and experience, it can be a whirlwind of wonders, but we made sure to take it all in and gather our thoughts on some of the standout moments of BETT 2019.

Among the many sessions that we attended - one that stood out for us in a big way was ‘Making technology work for schools, lessons’ by the EDUCATE team. Rose and Gary asked us, “What is the impact of technology in education?” The session invited the audience to consider the tech they already have, what is still needed, and encouraged evidence gathering before making big decisions when investing in innovative edtech.

Another session that stood out for us was , ‘Accessibility at Apple: Innovating for all’. Sarah Herrlinger, Director, Global Accessibility Policy & Initiatives stated something that we at Texthelp feel very strongly about… “Technology is most powerful when it empowers everyone!”

While it’s essential that education technology enables those with disabilities - be it physical or hidden - it also needs to empower everyone, and encourage greater progression and academic outcomes for all. And as a technology company, we keep this at the core of our development. We want everyone to succeed, and it was great to hear this throughout many sessions at BETT.

Of course, there was so much more to digest, and we were truly blown away with the amount of interesting talks, and extraordinary people who want to empower students to become more independent learners. But rather than tell you more, we’d like to show you just how powerful an atmosphere permeates everything about BETT (with some added key learnings and amazing sessions for good measure!). If you were at BETT, but didn’t get a chance to pop by our stand - don’t worry. Our website has you covered.
