Introduction to Read&Write for Windows or Mac - 2 hour (K-12 or Higher Ed)
In this hands-on, interactive 2-hour session, participants will learn about this Literacy Support software, designed to help students in the areas of Reading, Research, Writing, Vocabulary, and Studying. All the tools on the Google Docs, Web and PDF toolbars, fewer strategies and less time for practice and Q&A in this 2-hour version.
Introduction to Read&Write for Google Chrome - 2 hour (K-12 or Higher Ed)
This 2-hour session focuses on both the functionality of the tools on all three toolbars (Docs, Chrome Web, PDF) and the practical application of the extension across instructional settings. The interactive and hands-on teaching setting provides the foundation for teachers to integrate RW4GC into classroom instruction for each student’s unique needs. Many of the tools, fewer strategies and less time for practice and Q&A in this 2-hour version.
Introduction to Read&Write for Google Chrome for Use with Office 365 - 2 hour (K-12 or Higher Ed)
This 2-hour session focuses on both the functionality of the tools on all three toolbars (Word Online, OneNote Online, Web) and the practical application of the extension across instructional settings. Strategies presented can be used to both teach the tools to students as well as support student acquisition of skills such as building vocabulary, reading comprehension, organizing information, and summarizing.
Introduction to EquatIO - 2 hour (4-12 or Higher Ed)
EquatIO was made to help math and science teachers and students at all levels create mathematical equations, formulas, graphs and more on their computer or Chromebook. In this 2-hour session, participants will create Google Docs and Forms in Google Chrome or Word documents in Windows, as well as incorporating EquatIO equations and Desmos graphs into each. All the functionalities shown will easily make math digital by typing with prediction, by handwriting on a tablet or with a mouse, and by dictating. equations or formulas.
Introduction to WriQ - 2 hour (3-12)
WriQ is a writing achievement tool, designed to accelerate assessment and motivate student writing, by giving teachers a tool for fast, effective, and meaningful feedback. This session will take you through the student experience with motivational components and the teacher experience for using the program to assess student writing and the data for making future student writing goals. Some writing ideas and rubrics to go with them are included. Advanced 2-hour Sessions
Vocabulary Attainment using Read&Write for Google Chrome - (K-12) Vocabulary is critical to comprehension thus word attack and word study skills are paramount to increasing reading abilities for all levels of learners. Using Read&Write tools, we will practice using various vocabulary attainment strategies appropriate for all levels of learners including English Language Learners. Both examples and strategy templates will be provided as will time for creation and sharing of example uses.
Acquiring Critical Reading Skills using Read&Write for Google Chrome - (K-12)
Aligning with the State Standards for Reading Literature and Informational Text, this workshop will present strategies for building background, monitoring comprehension, interacting with text, using higher level thinking skills and recognizing text structure. Both examples and strategy templates will be provided as will time for creation and sharing of example uses.
Literacy Strategies using Read&Write for Google Chrome - (K-12)
With more complex text, students need to learn how to tackle both learning new words for comprehension, and using higher level thinking to interact and extract critical information from text. This training will present both vocabulary and reading strategies to help students grades 4-10 learn how to help themselves as independent learners.
School/District Trainer Consultation for Read&Write for Google Chrome* - (K-12)
With the many school districts choosing to address their training needs internally, this session offers time with our Read&Write Expert to review the tools, their various functions, suggested uses based on student need as well as adaptable learning strategies provided for immediate integration into classroom instruction. Recommended for district trainers, AT specialists, instructional coaches, technology integration specialists and all others who will be working directly with teachers. Maximum of 10 participants.
