We feel we can give our young people access to alternative skills they need in order to explore other possibilities and show them other outcomes in their future careers. Things like creative writing, coding, advanced math, etc. Here is some of the work we've carried out in our communities so far.
The students at St. Benedicts College in Northern Ireland expressed a serious appetite for technology. As part of their Young Enterprise initiative they were eager to create an app to store recipes for the tasty treats they’d be selling.
As well as help them with their wider project, we felt like we could use an Hour of Code day in order to introduce our expert developers and teach the kids the basics of building an app. Find out what happened...
We visited Finborough School, Suffolk, England to host a workshop designed to inspire creative writing no matter what the barriers.
We believe in creating avid readers and fluent creative writers. We want ALL kids to be inspired to write stories which they find interesting in the hope that they will be encouraged and enabled to go on and achieve more.
We took along a guest writer who kicked off the workshop with a lecture on the good building blocks of any story. The kids went on to create their stories with the help of assistive technology, storyboarding and the Texthelp team. We now NEED you to vote for your favourite story. The winning team with have their story beautifully animated.
