Create quizzes and formative assessments quickly and easily.

Take the pain out of writing maths in Google forms

Creating maths quizzes and exit tickets in Google Forms is a great way of taking a temperature check on student progress. The task doesn’t come without its challenges, especially since Google Forms doesn’t have a built in equation editor.

Adding maths to Google Forms

It might be easy to slip back into pen and paper assessment to avoid time consuming test prep in Google Forms. That’s where Equatio can help. With a custom integration for Google Forms, Equatio allows both you and your students to type, speak or hand write maths expressions into Google Forms.

Here’s how:

1.

Download Equatio. If you’re a teacher then great news, EquatIO is free for you to download. Just make sure you register with the Google email you are going to be using to create Google Forms.

2.

Once you add the Google Chrome Extension, you’ll be ready to use Equatio in Google Forms. When you open Google Forms you’ll see the blue Equatio icons beside the questions and answer choices. When you click the blue icons, an equation editor will open at the bottom of your screen.

3.

Click the equation button and type the equation. Then click “Insert Math”. You can also hand write the equation if you have a touchscreen device, or speak the Equation into your device’s microphone.

4.

With no symbol shortcuts or buttons to remember, simply start typing the symbol you want, and it will populate. For example, if you want to type a fraction, start typing the word “fraction”.

5.

Once you click “Insert Math”, you will see the equation in Google Forms.
