Texthelp Joins Forces with Secondary Math Teacher to Address Equity in the (STEM) Classroom, Through the Use of Digital Learning Tools
Boston, MA – June 23, 2022 – Texthelp, a global leader in literacy and digital learning tools in education, today announced that Tinashe Blanchet, Professional Development Specialist at Texthelp, and Kori Perkins, a secondary math teacher from Gonzales Middle School in Louisiana, will be speaking at the upcoming ISTELive 22 Conference. The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) is a professional development conference that supports educators as they use technology to drive good practice in the classroom.
The session titled, “Bring Equity to Your K-12 STEM Classroom with Equatio Mathspace,” will be held on Tuesday, June 28 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM CDT. This session will include presentations from Blanchet, a former high school math teacher with 16+ years of experience in education and teacher training, and a current Professional Development Specialist at Texthelp, and Perkins, who uses technology resources as an integral part of her daily lessons.
The session will introduce attendees to the interactive functionality of Equatio Mathspace through the lens of equity in the STEM classroom. Science and math teachers, who often incorporate manipulatives, experiments, and handwritten calculations into their instruction, often struggle with finding STEM tools that can be used effectively online or in a digital learning environment. Millions of teachers worldwide have now adopted Equatio's award-winning software which makes math and science accessible to students online.
“I am very excited to share more about the importance of teaching STEM through an equitable lens in the classroom,” said Blanchet. “Texthelp’s digital math and STEM tool, Equatio, has been a game changer for teachers and students. The digital tool eliminates common barriers students are faced with when learning and practicing mathematics. Through the tool, STEM subjects become inclusive towards all learners and their individual needs, not just those who prefer the traditional pen and paper route.”
