Success with Browsealoud...

In a bid to ensure online accessibility, Buckinghamshire Family Information Service (BFIS) has implemented leading literacy software Browsealoud onto their website. Browsealoud is designed to give website visitors a better experience by reducing any barriers between website content and it’s audience.

The Buckinghamshire Family Information Service (BFIS) is a free and impartial information service for parents/carers with children aged 0-19 years (and up to 25 years for those with a disability or additional needs) and for professionals working with families.

The BFIS team provide information on childcare, family related activities, events and services across Buckinghamshire including Early Help and the SEND Local Offer.

Thanks to Texthelp, the provider of Browsealoud, online visitors of www.bucksfamilyinfo.org can now benefit from user-friendly speech, reading and translation tools that are provided to help visitors access and understand the information they require.

Browsealoud enables visitors to hear the information read aloud in the most natural sounding voice. The web pages can be translated into many languages at the touch of a button and the information can even be converted into MP3 for digesting at a more suitable time. A screen mask tool is also available to block on-screen clutter, allowing visitors to focus on the text they want to read.

"Overall our customer feedback has been very positive, professionals are really impressed by the translate function and schools have taken a particular interest in the screen mask function for those pupils who have visual impairments." - Elizabeth Connick, Senior Information Officer.
